About Me

I am 46 years old and I live in Northern CA. I was born and raised in Newport RI, but moved to CA when I met my wonderful husband.  I was an English teacher by profession, but after teaching for several years, I decided that I wanted a job that I could do from the comforts of my own home.

I began designing jewelry 6 years ago. I started out small making bookmarks (called book thongs) which consist of string and beads.  After making several bookmarks, I decided it was time to try my hand at jewelry. I find that not only do I love designing my ideas, but that it is theraputic as well. Many of my designs are inspired by nature and every day life. I am passionate about my work and am blessed to take what began as a hobby and turn it into a profession.  Recently I converted a garage into a studio where I have the freedom to create whatever I please.

When I began making jewelry I basically did bead stringing and wire wrapping.  Eventually I moved on to metal and glass work.  I now design using many different medias, but my favorite is turning clay into pure silver, copper and bronze.  These designs are created using a product called PMC or precious metal clay.  (See PMC to learn more about this product)

It seems like I learn something new every day and now that I have my own studio I plan to teach classes to pass along what I have learned.
